Hi gang. I've just set up a spare computer to dedicate to recording/mixing etc. That's it's only purpose in life; to create music. I decided to load it with Ubuntu OS. So the question is if any of you guys have experience with this operating system, what is the best app for recording. I don't want to spend the rest of my life downloading and testing every app they have.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Phip
P.S. I already loaded Audacity because it's a good basic program so you need not suggest that one. How about something more sophisticated?

I downloaded audacity a few months ago and it screwed up my computer. So i removed it and then about a month later my computer started acting normal again. Now im afraid to download anything.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Allright, I send you a pm, but I try to put here "best" free plugins that I know of, but... these are just what I like...

Plugins from AcmeBarGig, all worth. http://www.acmebargig.com/ it has many free, but also commercial ones.

found on Kvraudio.com

Dxreverb light.
StormGate1
Rough Rider
Phase AP 1

Delay Lama oh man! this is a must have for just EVERYONE XD (synth) http://www.audionerdz.com/

Angelina
My drumset (I heard good things about this, but not tested myself)
WOX
lightweight multiband compressor.

Allright, theres a plenty of them good, you can also browse some if you like, heres the search I made.

http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode=results&st=adv&soft%5B%5D=i&soft%5B%5D=e&type%5B%5D=0&f%5B%5D=0&f%5B%5D=au&f%5B%5D=dx&f%5B%5D=ladspa&f%5B%5D=rtas&f%5B%5D=vst&linux=1&win=1&free=1&sf=0&receptor=&de=0&sort=1&rpp=60&start=240

Hope there some help
Emp

But difference from Free and top class companies commercial plugins are huge... so if you have a cash...or some other way to get them.... get them.
