What a coincidence! I had a little play on my friends 'white falcon' only a couple of days back. Lovely instrument.everything you'd expect from a guitar in that price range. No idea how good the lower end ones are though.

I just bought a house and Uncle Sam is sending me a huge tax return. I've decided I was going to get a "good" guitar.

I've always played cheaper low end stuff. Since I was born I've wanted a Gibson Les Paul. Then I started watching some videos with Gretch guitar and I'm thinking that orange is in my future.

go Gretsch... you'll have to replace the electronics, but a set of TV Jones in the 5120 is heaven...

personally I have major beef with Gibson right now, as their quality is downright terrible in the past few I have repaired..... also if it means anything, the guy who taught me everything I know on guitars, his shop stopped carrying Gibson (due to quality issues) and only carry Gretsch and Fender now

@ joshjones you realize that he probably has a deal cut with fender. Fender and Gretsch are one in the same

The way I understand it just because your a dealer of one does not mean your a dealer of another. It's like a franchise, you agree to buy x amount of equipment to be a dealer. Even though it's bother under the same parent company it's still 2 different contracts.

I've been hanging out at another forum on gear and see lots of people gripe about Gibson.....no one really gripes about Gretch.

@deadman you may be right, however I know, as telecrater says you have to agree to order so many in order to be a dealer. He carries Gretsch because the original store owner was really good friends with Chet Atkins.

Its the same reason that my local Guitar Center won't carry Jaguar's. I've gone many times saying I'd buy one on the spot if they had one in stock, but they will only order as they aren't high selling products sadly.

Back to tele, check out http://gretschpages.com/forum/other-guitars/instant-gretschification-douglas-wno-630-so/14230/page1/

I was on backorder on the guitar but it was sadly not on demand. Kurt (the owner of Rondo) makes several other models, you may wanna check them out too, they all have rave reviews

I've never paid over $200 for a guitar. There is a local guy who has one of the g5120's and he's asking $550. if i can get it for $450 it's mine. He holding out for more so we'll see

Well I did it! well not yet, but I'm picking up my new gretsch tomorrow morning. I got every thing else listed on Craigslist.

Update - Great guitar even for a low end model. if any one is interested in hollow bodies check one out. blows the pants off epiphones, and Ibanez hollow bodies.
