are Floyd Rose tremolos supposed to be able to be pulled back? cuz in videos and stuff it looks like it is but on my brothers guitar it doesnt

Yes. Unless it looks like a Strat trem. If he bought a strat style trem off of Floyd Rose though, I garuntee he over-payed for it. That or his doesn't have a deep enough cavity for it.

Floyd Rose bridges, or 'locking trems' as they're more generally known, are made to be pushed down and pulled back. If your brother can't pull his back it's because it's not a locking trem but a 'floating' one; as Ozz said it's the bridge most commonly found on strats and strat-style guitars. The only other tiny possibility is that your brother's is a locking trem but it has been so badly set up the bridge is already completely pulled into the bridge cavity by the spring tension, definitely not a good thing for the guitar!

its a locking trem. maybe its not set up right since he got it at a pawn shop. i know it can be pushed down then pulled back up but it cant be in the normal position then be pulled back. myabe i just dont know how to use it properly

Go to your local music shop. Preferably with one that has someone in-the-know on Floyds. They'll get it fixed. BTW, how much did your Bro pay for it anyways?

i think he payed 500 for it.. and his guitar teacher says its a really nice guitar. but anyway i just wanted to know so when i get a new guitar ill know

Well in that case just Youtube it. Youtube has tons of instructionals on FL.
