hey, i just got one, curious, how far can u bend it. it looks rather stiff, i mean will it break if i whammy up or down on it a lot far down and up instead of just doing a "gilmour whammy" a very slight tremolo on the note as opposed to an "80s whammy" where the whammying is huge bending down and up and all tht **, i mean how far down and up can i go b4 i do damage, ive never seen someone "rock" on a bigsby in terms of playing a bigsby 80s style.

yeah that's one thing a bigsby can't do. you won't break anything(besides strings of course), i have only really messed with one Bigsby,my friends can't do anything bad in a store, and the worst that seem to me could happen is if you pull back the spring could pop out but that could just be his model and you would have to do some pulling. there really just use for the slight vibrato or "Gilmore whammy" as you say because the way the strings go out of tune so fast due to the way it stretches the strings

what about Brian Setzer, he was the stray cats in the 80's i'm sure he had a bigsby.

You will be able to bend down

I think it's going to be one of those things where you will just have to play and get used to it. I would load up on some extra strings just in case.

I've been thinking of getting a bigsby for my eppiphone dot but also have been thinking of new pickups and hardware. Whats stopping me is i was thinking of getting the black chrome hardware. it would make it look diffrent but i'm not sure yet

Let us know what you think

kk, i will. i figure it can go to a certain point before it breaks, and anyway if it does, i still have my original bridge!

oo yeah you can bend down i didn't mean that. you just can't go all 80s crazy that's what i thought you meant by 80s. It is used for a more gentle vibrato you can't pick the thing up and fling it like some do. but i would stack up set or two to get used to it just in case. for unlike other vibrato it stresses the strings more where other more the bridge more.
