Alvarez is very good. I have never heard a bad sounding Alvarez and they are very inexpensive for what you get, which is a great guitar. I own two! |

How cheap? My first Alvarez was $250 with case which is a great price for what you get, but if you only have $50 you may only be able to get a cheap 3/4 no name crap guitar. I would say save your money to get something that at least sounds good because then you will sound better when you play and you will want to play it more. When you buy a guitar that doesn't sound good, even the best players would have problems making it sing. So take you time with purchasing a new guitar and don’t be afraid to wait to be able to get something better than you can afford right now. I hope I have helped. |

If there is a guitar or music shop near your home go there and ask them if they have any guitars in your price range. Try out a few and see what you like. Maybe Alvarez is not a good fit for you. Who knows, only you after you try a bunch out. I am not sure what guitar brands there are in England for the lower prize end, but you should find something you like. |

YOU GOT AN ALVAREZ FOR 250 WITH CASE?!?!?! Yamaha is a decent sounding acoustic for not much. But when you ask guitarists what a good acoustic might be you are going to get answers that cost well over $1000. Alvarez makes beautiful sounding guitars.
Johnson and Cort sound very nice as well and are less expensive.
Don't blow $100 on a guitar that will be worthless in two years either because it was made poorly and breaks or because you have improved and want a quality guitar. Take the time to save and purchase a Guitar with some value then if you don't like it you can resell it for the same or maybe even more than what you bought it for. |

There is a Co. called Art and Lutherie (part of Godin Guitars) from Quebec that makes a really good line of guitars for under $300 US. I sell Martin Guitars in my shop, but also carry the AnL line, so I've played on all of them. |

No, first acts are horrible.
Though, if you want to damper with guitar and see if you like the idea of playing... I guess it isn't bad.
But in 3 months, you will identify it as a waste of money :/ |

No, first acts are not worth it. You'll come out frustrated with your playing when really its because of the crappy construction. I have a $450 Takamine that is awesome. I don't much about they're lower-end stuff, though. I agree with the alverez or yamaha call. |
