Also, check out some of the other songs if you haven't listened to 'em. Sorry, they're all acoustic thus far. |

Man that's some nice pickin'! how many takes before you were satisfied? Just curious because i just started playing around with recording and i'm freezing up as soon as i turn on the recorder. I wonder why that is? I really like your playing style. More please!

Thanks guys.
Surprisingly, that was my first take, Phip. There are definitely some rhythm mistakes that need to be worked out though, but it was good enough for me. I actually developed the primary lick in this song last year, and have been slowly piecing it together. It started out sounding a lot like Miles Davis' "All Blues", then I discovered that the melody uses the same notes in the Pink Panther theme song, so I started to move in that direction. It's my baby though, so I tried to make it really reflect how I play guitar, and I'm really pleased with the result. Anyway, having toyed around with it for so long, I'm really comfortable playing it, so recording it wasn't a big issue. Some of my other songs I had to do a few takes before I was able to get them dialed in.
Also, glad you noticed the latin influences, Empirism. :D

Also Empirism, what did you mean by "I need a Sade style singer". I'm not sure what or who Sade is. |

Reminds me of the song from that condom commercial. Think the lyrics are something like "I ain't giving up that easy...See baby, here's the thing - I just got wings". |

Haha, actually Skold, I've listened to the guitar from that song quite a bit this summer. I can't believe I'm saying this, but that commercial is inspirational! :P
Sade's style might be interesting. It would certainly bring out the latin influences in the song, but I can't sing quite like that of course.
At the moment, I'm considering doing a sort of folk/spoken verse vocal part. |
