I just wrote this song a few minutes ago, and it's very rough but wanted to know what you guys think of it.

It's weird how i have been listening to metal the last few weeks (old 80's anthrax and megadeath) and this is what naturally comes out. Am i cured?

It's called "Don't ask me about Jesus" and the progression is
C - F - C - Em7 - C - Am - G - C

Lyrics

You can ask me about the weather
and how the rain came poring down
you can ask me about my mother
my sister, kids and my dog
but don't ask me about Jesus
cuz Jesus want's nothing to do with me

I take bong hits with my breakfast
and a cold beer with my lunch
i don't like to thing about the future
when today was such a waste of time
but don't ask me about Jesus
cuz Jesus want's nothing to do with me

all right, strait from Shitty studios in San Antonio Texas.....

Ok so i just recorded a rough version of the song in my bathroom (get it shitty studios). Let me know what you think. the leads need lots of work, so does the singing.

Nice, lyrics are actually pretty good. It's a simple song, but still pretty powerful. Did you improvise the melody or write it out? It sounds really good.

Thanks guys.

I had the hook part stuck in my head when i crossed the Texas state line a few months ago. (I just moved form Iowa) I jotted in a note book, and tonight just decided to work on it. I spent a total of about 30 in on the lyrics and about the same on recording it.

I'm actually thinking about changing it some...maybe making some sort of rhyming thing with the lyrics. I was also thinking about making a definite chorus but may just keep it as is, it's kinda of a new song structure for me.

Yeah, the whole downtown area is basically destroyed, and garbage is piled several feet high on all the streets. I live up on a hill though, so I dodged the worst of it.

I'm actually heading off to Iowa State in the fall. Anyway, back on topic.

Since GB like the whole Shitty studios thing I took a picture of it....

I also re-recorded it, with more verses and some other leads. It still needs work (and Bass) but it's in progress.

Is it so you can play with yer pants down and if you gotta shit you don't need to stop playing? lol
And I'm lovin' that second lead!
Great job.

natural reverb is why i recorded in the bathroom and i think the person up stairs in my apartment was doing jumping jacks or maybe.......do i hear Barry White sining..."getting it on"!

Anyways it was not so loud in the bathroom. I think I'm going to scrap the acoustic lead all together and go with the electric.

That's what I would expect. However, the player "works," it just doesn't "work"... It just seems to perma-load and never actually play the song.

by the way i updated the song some last night and can be found

So basically the whole song is in the key of C major

The acoustic guitar is C - F - C - Em - C - Am - G - C

The Main lead part is like this

---8--7--5-------------------8--7--5------------------
------------8 \10--5--6--5------------8--10-----------
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
that's the reacquiring theme of the song

I also added a bridge for a solo which goes

C - Dm - Am - F - G
