Hey all I know the questoins been asked before but I want to pickup some affordable drums, now from what I've been able to find it's gonna cost about 1000 for the kits I'm looking at I checked at some pawn shops but nobody really pawns drums I was really hoping to get on of the kits that was my dads considering he was a proffesional drummer but there's virtually no hope there, so any advice is greatly appreciated, |

I'm going to get this set for my son's birthday in July. I think I heard somewhere that learning to play drums really helps you out on guitar. This seems like a good beginners set for a good price. Not sure what the shell pack box A or the shell pack box B is all about, but I wouldn't order them of the net anyway so I don't guess it matters.

Haha, for your son? You sure you're not gonna end up playing them instead, and he's gonna say "Can I have a go now please Daddy?" lol
I read an interview with Dave Grohl, and he said that he plays rhythm guitar like a drum kit, the low E is the bass, the A and D are the snare, and the highest strings are the hi hats/cymbols, useful for highlighting a chord change. Check out how the guitar follows the drums in "Best Of You", for example. |

Hey whatever gets my wife on my side about buying a drum set. lol
My nephew (not sure about the spelling on that one) started playing drums when he was 5 years old. His dad is a drummer so he was always around it. That kid is amazing, he is 13 now and plays drums, guitar, and piano like he has been playing for years and years. The really amazing part is that he doesn't now nor has he ever had to really practice all that hard. It just seems to come natural to him, very gifted kid. |

Sorry pusher didn't mean to get off topic so quick. My point in the last post was that my son is only 7 and he is interested in drums so I would like to get him playing as soon as possible.
It looks like you want to spend a little more than I do on a good set. If I was going to spend that much I would go with a Pearl set. |

There was a music show back home that sold beginner sets for $400 that included cymbals and stands the works. they where cheap imported drums made in china but they were full sized. they looked fine but I'm not a drummer so not sure if i could till a Ludwig set from a steamy turd.
I would keep looking. I bet most pawn shops are going to get excited about drums and price them too high. especially with all the space they take up. |
