I've decided to give you all a little test, and see what you're capable of. This should also give you an idea of the kind of things you should be testing yourself on, too. Personal Message me on your answers, and I'll let you know if you're right or still need to work on some things.
This is an idea of some questions you should be asking yourself. Make sure what you know becomes second memory! If you keep forgetting certain things; test yourself on it! __________________________________________________________________________________________ Also, check out my music listed on Sound Cloud (link below) if you like it follow me on facebook! :) JazzMaverick on Sound Cloud JazzMaverick Music __________________________________________________________________________________________

Sorry about that, that's my mistake. It E natural, not Eb. Thanks for pointing this out, bodom.

Just as a side, a 7b5 would be a major chord so locrian actually wouldn't work. There are several others that would however, none in the major scale.

Never, EVER combine flats and sharps in the same key!!

Actually they do, just not in the standard major keys.

It would be a minor 7b5 to work with the Locrian. Sorry, I was supposed to put that in the test.

JazzMaverick, maybe leave a site for people to improve their theory after they take the test? I don't believe it covers modes, but you can download it and contains mini applications to test intervals, keys, notes and triads.

www.musictheory.net is such a helpful site, I agree. But the site has already been recommended by me and other members a number of times to each of them. I felt there was no need to say it again.

This site covers modes quite nicely. I've yet to find another site which covers modes with an easy to use example maker.

i guess, my guitar teacher would always tell me, if I were writting something, if it sounds good, just go with it. I guess theory is more like learning guidelines, even mozart and beethoven and all those guys broke the rules. although it's good to learn theory, makes things easier.

It's like what I always say; learn the rules, then break them.
