When you play your guitar ?
Mine would be,
Black Sabbath, Pantera, Metallica, Dethklok, Into Eternity, Carcass, The Ramones, Dead Kennedys, The Misfits, a bit of Slayer, a LOT of the 80's bands.. there's actually too many to list.

And I am starting into the Black metal phase lol

i agree with notim...i think of a role model as someone i want to be like...but i just want to be me. i could list my favorite guitarist though: dimebag, dave mustaine, steve vai, michael romeo and jon donais. as for bands....there are way too many to list...but im listening to pantera right now...and recently...dimmu borgir, god forbid, kamelot, cream and fourplay. and of course my own music as well...

Okay well maybe I wasn't clear. Maybe I shoulda said,
"Who are your inspirations in bands" Like what bands inspire you to play or to try to write something.
I agree, role models would be more of a person you look up to, not a band.
I usually like the bands with the great guitarists and the great solos because it inspires me...
Buckethead is really great guitarist, check out the Nottingham Lace video on YouTube...

Well I personally dont have any music inspire me cause I write pretty much every week and its more part of life and what i do because I allways have music in my head, but i understand what you are saying, your younger and i was at one time also,so in my day I'd say it started with Ted Nugent but quickly went to Ac/DC both stlyes made me want to play as much as I could and basically started me in a good direction.

i started playing gutiar after listening to Pantera's "Reinventing the Steel" and "Cowboys from Hell" and hearing dimebag do those crazy ass pinch harmonics. I just thought it was so cool to make that sound so i borrowed my friends acoustic guitar and, for hours every day, sat and practiced doing harmonics.
But as for inspiration now....my only inspiration comes the exact time and place both mentally and physically that i am at that moment.

I think Dime was a 80's guitar player living in the 90's Ive read that he heard Randy roads he locked him self in his room for a summer and came up with the sound and style he played. He is a outstanding guitar player and allways will be I use present tence cause if theres a place to play...I'm sure he found it

Jerry Garcia, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Trey Anastasio, Brian Setzer. I'm big into jam bands, and really not into all the fast shredding technical players.
