Can anyone help me setup my MIDI Keyboard and EZDrummer? I thought it would be straight forward: click options, click "MIDI Devices...", but it brings up an error message that reads No MIDI IN device available. Is that how I am supposed to set it up? If so, does anyone know what my problem is? Any help would be appreciated!

I had to download some drivers from paceap, problem solved. There is a huge delay in the sound though, not sure if that is because of a crappy MIDI keyboard or if that is just the nature of EZdrummer.

You should be able to adjust the latency on the MIDI control panel. If not there than in the audio setup menu in your recording software or on your sound card setup menu. Latency is generally linked to processor speed an sound card capabilities, as well sound quality settings. It usually takes some fiddling to get the right balance of latency, quality and bit rate. Depending on the software, you can expect to play with latency for at least 30 minutes unless you're a pro or particularly lucky.

I doubt the latency issue is the fault of EZ Drummer.

Good luck.

Updating here, some information. Might help others who are still very green to the recording scene. I couldn't for the life of me find the VSTi for Reaper for EZDrummer. It was incredibly frustrating. For some reason, the installation process created a folder, completely outside of the Toontrack root directory, to place the plug-in. I had to do some researching, and then found that if you click on "Set Paths" in the EZDrummer software, you can see where this plug-in is stored. I believe it is standard for EZDrummer (for any of you who might purchase it in the future) to store it here:

Anyways, I finally have EZDrummer working in Reaper now. I saw some information on how to manually program a drum track without using MIDI, so it looks like I can start actually making a song, since I now have the acoustic mic working and I now can record my electric and bass guitars into Reaper. Pretty exciting, now I get to start the fun part!! You may actually get a btimm song in the not too terrible distant future.

I know this is a guitar forum and not really a recording forum, but I may try to gather some information from the multitude of posts I made to create an "Intro to recording" lesson for the site. There is SO MUCH information out there, that this could be really useful to someone as green as I am. lol I may not though, as my knowledge is super ultra limited and I don't know if it would do much good. We'll see.
