Hi evryone! I need advice on a BOOST pedal for leads,I have a single channel 50 Watt mesa 50 caliber head, and there is no solo channel,I will need a db boost. My setup is as follows, mesa 50 cal, goatkeeper 3 trem,tc electronic pitch modulation, and ehx memory man delday.I'm kicking myself for not getting an amp with a solo channel. Any recommended boost pedal advice appreciated! :-) |

I had one of these when I was in a dual lead metal band. MXR Compressor. It was the best solution to your solos cutting through all the mids and bass that I have ever found.

Why did you go with that MXR 108 over just an overdrive/distortion pedal?
It sounds like what your after is just another gain stage in your amp and you should be able to accomplish that with an overdrive/distortion.
It's really all about preference and defining you sound.

Yeah. Why would you get and EQ if you wanted to boost your leads? A compressor or overdrive will add volume but a eq will just change the sound. Oh well. |

They swore up and down at Gc that Mxr would be the greatest boost on steroids I ever owned.I usually just run my effects up front, but after taking that back, and getting just a clean boost, and running thru the effects loop, everything works great now! :-) |
