Harmonics - Exercise for ThatGuitarGuy At his request! Ok! I would love to post this in tabs, but I don't remember how to on the forum. So if someone could let me know how to or send me a link that shows all the commands that would be so cool. I can explain a few right now with out any problem. The why I learn harmonics is using this chart. I got it from Bassstudy.com http://www.studybass.com/tools/chord-scale-note-printer/ I sit down and try to get the distance in my head, until I can do them all by 1. LH with RH picking 2. Tapping and slapping with RH 3. Then RH finger and thumb 4. This is my favorite, I strum a simple chords like Cmaj and hit all the '12th fret' harmonics or I believe they are called the octave harmonics. If anyone know the name for them pleas let me know. now I'm going to add to my list 4. RH Finger and Thumb, with alternating finger picking. When I got it down , I bar all the strings on the first fret and do the whole thing over again. I only do this once every few weeks, I make it a personal holiday. Harmonic Day! I try to tell my self the notes that I'm hitting, more so I try to get the interval they are in relationship to the string turning in my head. I change tunings a lot so it a good skill to have. For electric guitar I do some things with the pick, mostly just natural harmonics. |
