I'm almost finished shaping a saddle for my Ukulele. The original was plastic and flat, but not dead flat on the bottom. It is flat on top too like a classical. I'm trying to decide whether to finish of this new one made of bone, flat across the top, or leave it a little raised on the C string contact point.

Any saddle shaping experience out there?

A saddle is the white thing on the bridge of an acoustic that the strings run over on their way to the bridge pins.

Edit: I'm having trouble posting a picture, is it me or is that feature on the fritz?

i see. i use sand paper to shape things when i need to. And i used a hack saw to put the grooves in a saddle before. but please dont just do it. I dont know if these are good ideas or not.

Tidbit: A Baritone Uke and a Tenor guitar are almost the same thing.

Tenor guitar has four strings and are normally tuned usually CGDA, similar to the tenor banjo or the viola but can be tuned DGBE. Baritone uke is tuned DGBE like the top four of a guitar.

So they both have four strings and can be tuned the same and are about the same size, but the guitar is usually steel string and the uke nylon.
