i had a little bit of pretbuzz before but after i put on new lighter strings there's a lot more. should i adjust the trus rod? i looked at the neck afterwards and i'm almost positive that it is bent back more because there's less tension on the neck.

Well you need to find out more info.

Is the buzz coming from the bridge, maybe the nut or the fret?

play fret by fret each string and see if the buzz goes away. if you cannot isolate it by playing frets then i'd say it may be the bridge.

Also have you riased the action the the guitar and see if the buzz goes away.

get a straight edge lay it on the neck. the middle shouldn't touch. if the middle touches and not the ends you have a back bow and you need a truss rod adjustment. the truss rod only fixes neck bow that's all.

In the end get someone to look at it. that's the best you could do.
