power soak???

So I just modded my fender blues jr. to have a line out jack (among other thins) and now it just occurs to me that if its 3am it would be nice to just unplug the speaker and record strait to line (usualy i will mic the cab and record line out.

I know if i just unplug the speaker and the power has nowhere to go it could be really bad for my amp.

Soooo.... whats my best solution. I think a power soak right. If you have a suggestion of something I can buy.... or build please enlighten me... or if i am missing something.

You are correct. You can't just unplug the speaker without overworking the output stage of the amp. A power soak might do the trick. (i never heard of a power soak before so i did some reading up on it.) You say you added a line out. Did you get a diagram or instructions for that mod and if so can you give me the url? I'd like to look at the diagram. I downloaded a schematic for the blues jr amp and i'm guessing it is the right one but could you direct me to a pdf shematic (if you have it) so that i can be sure i'm looking at the right circuit diagram for your exact unit.

@telecrater. I think that might work. I can hit up my tech to find out if it is the best option.

@phip. I think a dummy load is actually what I need more then a power soak. I had my amp tech do the modding. From what he described to me each amp (or kind of amp) needs a few different things done with the line out in order to have it sounding really great. He actually showed me how it sounded when he just wired in the line out and it was just way to bright and volume was crazy and then he did alot of messing around and the next day I could barely hear what was the pa and what was the speaker. I will ask if I can get a diagram.

Also if you want info about the blues jr. to anyone who is reading there is a guy called billm if you look up billm mods it will direct you to his page with TONS of amazing info about the blues jr.

I actually talked to him this morning and said I can just get everything i need at radio shack. I am gonna head down there and if i figure it out with a self build I will get back to you guys.
