Here's To The Blind Man's Sight
-----------
"The times are here to change right before we get old.
Well, it's in the nick of time cause I almost lost my soul.
Now I'm grasping onto the king I can hold.
I figured I should since I was bought, not sold.
The man on the corner's smokin' through his pipe.
Why should we judge because it's not our type?
While we exist, we're thinking it's ok.
Never think about the phrase "I'll be back one day".
Here we think it's alright.
We never fight the fight.
Keep on dreaming at night.
Here's to the blind man's sight.
Now, I can't the explain the awesome change inside.
But, it's great to know I have eternal life.
I guess you could say I'm a little bit weird.
But, aren't we all just a little bit weird?
I find my joy on my knees at night.
I know it sounds strange, but not in my minds eye.
I think you could say that I'm a new man.
Guess that's what happens when you put it in his hands.
Here we think it's alright.
We never fight the fight.
Keep on dreaming at night.
Here's to the blind man's sight." |

Maybe post a bit about story behind the song and explain some of the metaphors? I mean, the song flows and sounds natural, but for all I know it could be nonsense, with no real meaning. |

so... what, are you singing about being a christian?
if you sing it right, it'll sell, but it sounds like some sort of teenpop song that'll have synths in the background, and a whimsical video with a little slut bouncing around singing it. |

It is some-what popish, baud.
It's essentially talking about how we are often too blind to see what's right in front of us.
And yes, I'm a Christian. |

Song #4 (actual title)
---------
"Go and find what you lost inside.
Is it true that we are blind?
Make your rules, and follow them.
But as for me, I'll follow him.
Find your way, and walk the road.
Fading things are what you hold.
Mourn with them throughout the night.
Hold on fast, and fight the tide.
All of the things you will find.
They're gonna fade in due time.
And all of the things that you have.
They won't mean a thing in the past.
Take your place, and stand up straight.
Take you look from off your face.
Smiled wide. Oh, you tried.
All you hide is the pain inside.
Fight the thought of your life.
Which seems to have been lived in strife.
All these things have come to be.
Maybe we should've taken heed.
All of the things you will find.
They're gonna fade in due time.
And all of the things that you have.
They won't mean a thing in the past."

Note: Song #4 has an almost "tribal" feeling to it. It's chopped full with smooth basslines, clean guitars, and rhythmic bongos/congas. |

also: try having... you know, a rhythm.
The TIMES are here to CHANGE right BEfore we get old.
WELL, it's in the nick of time cause I ALMost lost my soul.
NOW I'm GRASPing onto the KING i CAN HOLD.
I FIGURED I SHOULD since I was BOUGHT, not SOLD
that rhythm is choppy and painful.
(the) TIMES are here to CHANGE - BEFore we get OLD
IT'S in the nick of TIME - CAUSE i almost lost my SOUL
NOW i'm holding ONTO - (the) KING that i can HOLD
(i) FIGURED that i really SHOULD - CAUSE i was BOUGHT not SOLD
see how in the first three verses, the second part holds to the dactyl - anapest rhythm, then the fourth goes dactyl, spondee, iamb? that creates a gallop until the end, and then a cadence. in the first part of each verse, the dactyl - iamb pattern keeps it melodic.
scanned, try making all the stanzas conform to this-
Aaa aA Aaa aaA
Aaa aA Aaa aaA
Aaa aA Aaa aaA
Aaa aA Aa AA aA
a sort of bastard dactylic tetrameter. |

I agree with Doz that you got a decent flow going on here. And when I read some of these lines individually, I thought, “Wow, Very insightful” However, when taken as a whole some of the lyrics seemed somewhat disconnected from others. I think I can make sense of it all, just not the most straightforward. Not necessarily a bad thing by the way. |

I'll keep that in mind, fellas.
I should probably mention that the first song is more of a spoken word kind of thing. Think of songs like Parklife (blur), Comfort Eagle (cake), and Only (nin). |
