changing the type of tubes used to get more output power like an old epiphone galaxy 10 that has the same circuit inside but with a different output tube that puts 10watts out. |

Thanks I have viewed this but the problem is that there is a modification to make it class AB push pull but need 2 EL84 or 2 6L6 and needs a phase inverter that is like making a new amp.
I was reading on the internet and find that the Epiphone Galaxy is 10watts and the circuit is almost indentical but with a EQ and Gain control and has a 6L6 in the output with the same output transformer of 5kohm in the primary. I think that if I change the tube socket to an octal and put the 6L6 and adjust the bias I can get 10 watts with the preamp section stock. Thanks |

hold on buddy, you will also need to re-bios the amp for the tubes for the amp. also even a 10 watt amp has enough current running thru it to kill you so if your going to be poking around in there be careful. |
