Blues help

Hey, I just found this site, and I think it is wonderful. I've been playing casually for a few years, and what I'd really like to accomplish is a comfortable ability to play some blues. I am inspired by ZZ Top, AC/DC, SRV etc.. that's a ways away, but it's the style of blues I enjoy. Just wondering if there is any advice on what to work on. I am comfortable with all basic chords, and can do some soloing that I think is pentatonic major(I'm not sure), butit always seems to sound the same. Anyway, this post is getting too long. Thanks to anyone for advice, and I'm glad I found this site.

Learning blues is a nice way to move into other musics. Depending where you are in you guitar experiece will really depend on what you do, however, I would at least learn at least one (minor pentatonic scale) all positions on the neck and learn a simple 12 bar blues progression. While playing the 12 bar blues learn different rythms and sounds like muting the strings. Try different voicings (4 string chords, 3 string chords, try skipping the 5th of a chord).

You may want to consider learning the Key of E. Play

the last chord you may want to try a turn around chord on the twelth bar. Try a B7#9 has a lot of tension.
