Hey, I'm planning on buying a new guitar soon and it's going to be in the 500-600 range, and I'm a huge gibson and Epiphone user, so it's mainly come down to the Epiphone standard plus top pro, or the 2014 Gibson melody maker. I was wondering if as usual the gibson will have a little better build and tone than the Epiphone seeing as how they are in the same price range I'm confused which one should I go with?

I would play each one and buy the one you like the most. Don't make your decision based on whether it's a Gibson or Epiphone. If it's a tie between the two, get the Gibson. Better resale value.

Check out any of the guitars made at the matsumoku factory during the 70`s early 80`s. Kick ass guitars made as good or better than gibson for alot less money. Do some research on this subject and you will see what i mean.

Good luck
