creating chords with scales.

sometimes when i play guitar i'll play like a A major pentonic and use the notes of that scale and create some kind of chord. how do i find out what type of chord that is. whether or not it's in A. Is it possible to use any type of scale and use the notes of that scale and create some kind of chord.

I would take a look at the lessons section. Read KEYS then read CHORDS. It explains how chods are made.

Well, to answer your question: any group of enough notes is a chord... wether it's a good one is a different matter... but if it sounds good then play it. It'll sound right since it's in the right key, if you are doing it as you say.
