case211 says: that's quite untrue of Allan Holdsworth Since he is a skilled guitarist he surely knows the logic of his guitar. This logic is music theory. You don't have to know all the ins and outs of music theory to play a little, but if you're a good player you won't have a single problem reading about music theory or explaining issues. Music theory isn't that hard. To me it seems there is too much focus on certain chords, scales, chord progressions. Music theory is just a tool to understand music logic and the logic of an instrument. Playing should come from the heart imho. |
