BASS QUESTION!

ok, so I want a bass that can pull off a red hot chili peppers tone but also has a real deep tone for harder rock. I was looking into some sterlings just because I do not have a ton of money to use. but on the fender Pbass can the staggered picks ups provide a deep tone?

I'd go with an ESP B14SM. Its' got a great, groovy, slap bass tone... but it is a heavy metal bass. This thing has dominated just about every other bass I've played as far as tonal diversity and playability. Of course, any ESP bass will rock your world.
