We sell Oscar Schmidts in the music store I work in. They are super cheap, super low end instruments made by washburn. Actually washburn has two low level companies, Lyon, and then even below that Oscar Schmidt.

I usually suggest O.S. guitars for children who are going to start and their parents don't want to spend a lot of money on something their kids are only going to use as a toy. They aren't bad for the money but they aren't quality instruments. If you've been playing for a while then save up a few hundred more and get a low end gretsch or an epiphone hollowbody. Actually washburn makes a nice hollow body for a little over $300.

Thanks, matt. I got an epiphone dot now but man I'd love to have another hollow body. I think i'll hold out for a sheriton II or 175 copy.

yeah i don't think you'll regret it if you save up a bit and get something a little nicer
