Has anyone ever put in a pair of active pickups into a guitar on their own. I've been wanting to pick up a set of EMG 81/85s. But I've never replaced pickups before. Especially put in a pair of active ones. I do have wiring, and electronics expierence. Just was wondering what was involved in the process. |

i havent, but it's only slightly more complicated then a regular pick up system. it just involves a battery, and making sure you ground it right. |

if you guitar it is set for passive pickups your going to have a problem because active's need a battery unless you plan on finagling some short of external power system(which i doubt will work and would look ugly) you would need to bore a cavity in your guitar. but then again I'm no builder and some of the best things have been invented when people said it was imposable and someone just didn't care. |

Cool thanks Keniemn. I actually found those diagrams. It doesn't look too bad at all. Thanks! |

if you dont use to much wire and keep it clean the battery should fit in the control panel and if you dont have the right output jack on your guitar you might have to install an on/off switch to kill the power when your not playing ,i found that out after 4 batterys in a year
it is pretty easy just tin all conections before making joints |
