ok ive been playin now for almost two years, and i dont cosider myself to be good at all (well not two years worth anyway) i'm not too shabby with rythm its just lead part. I cannot solo for my life. can anyone give me tips to start soloing. where do I start? is there any exercises to help? |

Yes go to lessons and click FINGER WORKOUTS!!!
That one has a bunch of workouts for your fingers to get working good.
Learn some scales - If you are rocky then you want Major and Pentatonic especially. if you are bluesy then you would want blues scales, obviously. |

learn the pentatonic scales... practice alternate picking with chromatics (if u dont know wut chromatics are i have some alternate picking excersizes on here)

well just practice, see if you can find tabs for one of your favorite solos, then kinda take bits from that and kinda put them into ur own solos.. |

haha thats ok. i'll try the solo thing you mentioned. is there anything else, or could you gimme an example of a song with a good but simple solo? |

i think the first part of the Master of Puppets solo is pretty simple...
also once youve learned some scales (idk if uve done that yet =p) i can email a song i used to just play along to, just makin stuff up, when i first started. |

pentatonic definatly first... then i learned diatonic but other people have learned other things next |

ok i was working on them with my teacher a wile back, theres so many positions and stuff though should i just start at one then work my way up? |

yeah, i think theres only 5 pentatonic positions.. at least i only learned 5 |
