Its important not to go faster than you can, always start slow then speed up once you can play cleanly and comfortably, a metrenome is a good idea... all of these just repeat over and over.

Alternate Picking

these are just chromatics

e|----------------------------------------------------7-8-9-10---------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------8-9-10-11----------6-7-8-9-------------------------|
G|-------------------------------9-10-11-12----------------------------5-6-7-8-----------------|
D|--------------------9-10-11-12-----------------------------------------------5-6-7-8---------|
A|----------8-9-10-11------------------------------------------------------------------6-7-8-9-|
E|-7-8-9-10------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

you can do this anywhere on the neck, i just find it easiest here
_____________

you can do this with 3 or 4 notes, i prefer doing it with 3 tho, so i put the 4th note in brackets,

e|-----------2-3-4-(5)-----------4-5-6-(7)-------------|
B|-1-2-3-(4)-----------3-4-5-(6)-----------5-6-7-(8)---|
G|-----------------------------------------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------|

Just keep going up the neck here, you can do this on any two strings
____________

e|----------13-14-15----------13-14-15----------13-14-15--------------------|
B|-12-13-14----------14-15-16----------12-13-14----------14-15-16-11-12-13--|
G|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

you can do this anywhere on the neck with any two strings
___________

Now some sweeping :)

its very important to not play faster than you can. for people just starting just use no or light distortion.

practice sweeping with your right hand by muting the strings by laying your right hand over them

e|-------11-15-11----------11-16-11--------------------|
B|----13----------13----13----------13-----------------|
G|-12----------------12---------------12---------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------|

just repeat these too
__________

e|-------12-17-12----------11-15-11----------12-17-12----------11-15-11----|
B|----13----------13----13----------13----13----------13----13----------13-|
G|-14----------------12----------------14----------------12----------------|
D|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|

this is just two different minor arpeggios fused together
_________

and thats it! hope it helps, if you're playing this and something sounds really bad inform me cuz i must have done something wrong...

i just started learning how to sweep and ive been using these arpeggios

e|----------------7h11p7---------------------7h11p7-------------------|
b|------------8---------------8-------------8---------------8---------------|
g|--------7-----------------------7-----7----------------------7------------|
d|----9------------------------------9-----------------------------9---------|
a|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
e|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

though because i cant stretch to the 11th very well i tend to hit the 10th most of the time...

the other one i learned which is pretty easy is:

e|--------------------8h12p8-----------------------8h12p8-----------------|
b|---------------10-------------10--------------10-------------10------------|
g|-----------9------------------------9-------9-----------------------9---------|
d|------10-------------------------------10-----------------------------10----|
a|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

im also learning the Am arpeggio on the 8th fret (use this site to get it i dont feel like tabbing any more out).

good lesson though...

oh, and PS if you dont want to do a four-string arpeggio to start with take the second one i tabbed and pretend that the fourth string isnt there, it still sounds good, but its not that different...
