Hey guys I heard you all talking about Line 6 amps before but what do you think of the 150 watt half stack anyone hear it? I was flipping thru my cable stations and on the guitar world gear there was the Line 6 combo and it didnt sound bad ...just wondering what you thought about the half stack?

It depends what Line 6 it is, really. What're the models of your Line 6 amps?

they have the Flextone, Vetta, Spider, and HD147 amps that are half stacks,

I believe if it sounded good, we could rule out spider. ^_^

Ah. The Spider Valve is supposed to be the exception. Now... I heard that they *don't* suck as much as the other Spiders *but* they are still over priced for what they are. Are you thinking of buying a new amp soon then?

spiders are not as bad as most people say... but honestly the effects on them suck major donkey balls, but they can do cleans very well.

*then again* a new spider at the spider price... that's just outragious, I would never buy a new one. "got mine used for about 1/4th the price of a new"

I say they're alright as practice amps really. To thin for live shows and yeah, they're all overpriced. Plus the effects are horrible, and when you crank a Spider they they sound worse.

Ya I'm looking around I put money down one a JCM 900 half stack 50 watt but I went up and played it and for 1100.00 dollars I really expected a lot more out of it.It was stock and had no effects I was looking on Ebay and they just sold a JCM900 Twin Reverb but honestly I was messen around with a Ibanez thru it so it was a nice guitar and my wrist is broke but I really didnt care for it as much as I thought I would so I got my money back.I think 1100.00 is way over priced for that.

much agreed, 1100 for that is pretty insain pricing to me. O.o I'd go for full tubes for a nice true tube overdrive sound.

I think the 900s are good. I have for a while... I prefer the tone over the 2000s and they're more versatile than the 800s. However, I got mint for £360 which is like $700.

There are a lot of high end amps that don't have a lot of effects. Reverb is common. Keep looking, and get back to us on your ideas, I reckon.

Well I'm not looking for effects really just a good bottom and warm (metal) distortion... I was playing thru a MG and with a Boss distortion it kinda gave me what I wanted but and it was a DFX so the reverb wasnt bad ....I guess I'm looking to get the most out of my money really...I play pretty much all metal, dont do the clean much Ive had Crates,Marshalls,Vox,and a few others and I'm really not a pedal kinda person so...I'm pretty much trying to find something that has it all....aren't we all?....lol

I still think a high end valve amp and seperate effects like Boss or Digitech guitar workstations are the best arrangements. It's all about letting the individual specialists do what they're best at doing!

How loud do you need this amp? I'm going to go ahead and reccomend a cheaper valve amp with an overdrive and a good multi effects pedal (or even better, some stomp boxes). I reckon this way you'll get a more full sound... better than both the Spider and the MG. Have a look the Epiphone Valve Junior, and other similar amps.

Don't let the low wattage fool you, tube amps are a lot louder than solid state but if you're gigging - you might need a little bit more.

Very cool Idea doz backwards to me but make a lot of sence...control before the amp and let the tubes have it .....outstanding....will consider carefully...thx

You talkinh about the valve junior? Lol, your posts are really cryptic and hard to follow. But yeah, that valve junior should get a good tone with a OD pedal and some effects. You might need an EQ pedal aswell though.

Or that... but as I think he mentioned... it'd probably cost too much and be more power than he needs. Unless you get the combo... not sure what wattage they come in.
