Ok, I got some new strings, blah blah blah, put them on, blah blah blah, the guitar keeps going out of tune. I think it's the way I strung them, and since I suck at stringing guitar where the entrance for the strings is on the SIDE of the string post, I really suck at it. Any advice on how to string it?

The strings need to be worn in. To do this, lift a string, one at time, away from the fretboard and then release. Do this several times for each string and they will stay in tune.

Another way that I've found helps is to tune the strings half a tone higher and leave them overnight. They seem to stay in tune a lot longer then.

Thanks for the help. I re-strung them (almost perfectly), and they seem to be working good now.

when you put new strings on a guitar, they tend not to have been stretched yet...so they will almost always go flat.

Yeah, I think I remember reading something about that when I had started out on Bass. It was pissing me off yesterday, man. I was trying to record a few guitar parts over a new song, and I kept going flat. I would tune back up, then go flat again. Pissed me off.

just do what deefa said...tune your strings a half step higher and leave them there for a bit...or you can just re-tune 'em every two minutes.

when i string a guitar, i will tune it up. then pick up the guitar by the strings to help stretch them out. i'll retune and after that it will stay in tune. course you have to be careful with light strings, on a heavy guitar.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do, although I pull the strings away from the guitar's neck. Really effective.
