In some of the pictures, there are notes on the 0 fret(or whatever it's called), you know, yellow dots and all that. does that mean i have to put my fingers there or what? i know basics, like the red "x"'s mean that i don't strum those strings. but wth do the yellow circles up there mean?

Where there are yellow circles on the zero fret, it means you play the string 'open' i.e. without putting your finger on the string, just playing it as it is. For example, if you put in a Cmajor chord, the 3rd yellow circle up from the bottom is on the zero fret of the G string, which means you play the G string open

Afro

the "0" fret means that you are playing the string open, without fretting any notes. for example:

(A minor)
E:-0-(E)----------||
B:-1-(C)----------||
G:-2-(A)----------||
D:-2-(E)----------||
A:-0-(A)----------||
E:-0-(E)----------||

where you see a "0" you will be playing that string open or without fretting any notes...
