ive been playing a few years now ,but still im getting pain in the part of my hand where my 1st finger and thumb join in the muscle bit, when i play some barre chord progressions its a stuggle to finnish the section i try relaxing but its still hurts ive tried using hand grips to toughen up my hands more but its that certain area that never seems to toughen up that muscle bit.it is getting me down that i cant shake it off.its so annoying .. |

Maybe it's a relaxation issue rather than a strength issue. Just try to play the strings as lightly as they can without them muting... and move smoothly. |

first let me say this....hand grips will only hurt you in the long run. stretch your hand. face your palm up and press down on your fingers with other hand. this will stretch just about every spot in your hand. also, shake your hands to loosen them up before you start to play. and i agree with doz, try not to press hard on the strings. |

I not only get that same pain, but mine isn't there JUST when I am playing, if I press on my hand in that spot, it feels sort of bruised all the time. My brother in law works in the medical field, I'll ask him if it's anything to worry about and report back! |
