The simple little run @ 0:45-0:50

It seems very simple but the way his fingers come off the D chord he is either playing D differently than me or I am messing something up. Also it seems like he ends the scale run on the second string 2nd fret and then goes back a d chord. That seems very awkward to play with the timing.
