Chord: 'A' - Variation #1, help!

When I look at variation #1, it show an 'r' on the 4th string. What is the little 'r' thing supposed to be?

Anyone know?

For the last time, the 'r' means that is the root of the note! It's not that hard.

Oh, and the thing about 2005, that was two years ago, when it was 2005, people looked at it in 2005. Now it is 2007, and the community looks at posts from 2007, hence us not looking at a post from 2005.
