How can you tell when with what chords to play a scale?

Does anyone happen to know the answer of the question above? For example if you have Am Dm G how do you know what scale would sound good with those?!

Well, I think you're only a half step off from being in key...

Try learning the harmonized scale too. knowing that takes a lot of the guesswork out of things.

Here are the keys.....

So in the key of "C" the notes are CDEFGAB and in the key of "B" they are BC#D#EF#G#A# and in "F" they are FGABbCDE. Do you understand that?
Ok so by looking at the keys above you can see what notes are in them, and from that you can determine what chords can be used in each key.Chords are just a group of notes that are played together. Now you can play lots of different chords in each key but for the basic ones it is really easy to get them. Look at the top, right above the key of "C". See the M's and m's...(not the candy hehehe im a loser) Ok those stand for Major and minors... now the M = Major and the m = minors. So pick any key... ill pick "D" ok so the first note in the key of "D" is well D so I look back up to the M&m's what is in line with the D its a M so that means the chord DMajor is in the key of "D", the 2nd note in "D" is E so look back up and see its a small m this time.. minor so Eminor is in the key of "D" and so on. So now to answer your question(finally) if you have Am Dm and Gmajor just look and see what key all three of those chords are in. It looks like the key of "C" so then all you have to do is play the C Major scale over them and it will sound good. I hope this helped if you have any questions ask and I will try to make it clearer. Remeber this is just basic stuff, there are alot of different ways you can play over these chords... but make sure you understand the basics first before you try anything else.

Ok so the chart is messed up ... ok all you have to do is count. The 1st is a Major chord the 2nd and 3rd are minor, the 4th and 5th are Major, the 6th is minor and the 7th is minor flat the fifth.
