FX loops

okay so i heard that the fx loop on amps that have them are where the preamp ends and the power amp begins. so what my question is, is would it be possible to play one amps preamp through anothers through another amps power amp.
plugg in order-> guitar -> amp 1
amp1 fxloop send -> amp 2 fxloop return
amp 2 -> speaker

is this possible

i think its possible, but i dunno how well it would work, or how you would set it up. look at the manual if you have a copy, and see what it tells you.
