yo! for real blues type blues try muddy waters or john lee hooker, for more guitar type blues, hendrix or robin trower (amazing), for an alternative blues take try the black keys, slash's snakepit or jeff beck.
all those bands lead on to other great bands, but its all good music! |

Hi. New here and saw this thread. I absolutely LOVE blues. All of the above suggestions are terrific. I would add a couple; check out some of the old Delta guys too. Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House, Leadbelly, Blind Willie McTell and the like. From there, you go to the post-war Chicago stuff. Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Bobby Blue Bland, Buddy Guy, all the kings of blues guitar (B.B., Albert and Freddie King), Albert Collins...then off to the rock-n'blues guys. SRV, Johnny Winter, Commander Cody, Duane Allman, Robbie Robertson, Derek Trucks..etc.
And there's a tremendous amount of good stuff coming out all the time on these little labels like Blind Pig and Alligator.
Enjoy! |

don't forget to mention Big Bil Broonzy, Skip James(maybe the best blues guitar player of all times), J. B. Lenoir, Lightnin' Hopkins, Mississippi John Hurt, etc. |
