So I have been getting into Jazz a lot lately, particularly jazz fusion, jazz blues, jazz metal etc. Mainly because my style of guitar playing and what I feel is my true style after 7 years of searching is a jazzy, blues, shred/sweep picking/melodic kinda feel (wierd I know but it sounds cool), a lot like Govan. So my question is, what are some other guitarist/musicians that fall under the Jazz Fusion category? |

I'm surprised you haven't checked out his biography or anything, he's played with some great musicians and I’m sure you'll love them all. The fun is in researching them, especially his brother. |

Frank Gambale is exactly the sort of thing you need to look at. Also check out Shaun (or Shawn) Baxter, a guitarist who is often credited for pioneering 'jazz metal'. Well done my friend, you're in with the big boys now!

You definitely want to check out Greg Howe. He is Jazz, Funk, Blues, Metal Fusion. He is blisteringly fast at sweeping and alternate picking while extremely melodic. |

Mattias IA Eklundh and Richie Kotzen also come to mind. So does Scott Henderson and his band Tribal tech.
And we shouldn't forget about the pioneers of jazz fusion like Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth & Frank Zappa.:P

i know you probably don't want to hear it but stop listing to guitarist. There are much better musicians playing other instruments in that field |

Uh, Jean-Luc Ponty is not a guitarist. He's a violinist. However, like many of the other artist listed, his music is in the same vein that shred is asking for. |

Thanks, I love wes montgomery and Frank Gambale.
@RA-I concentrate heavily on guitar, so I tend to like to get the guitarists music. I do play piano, however I am nowhere near good enough for jazz on piano! |
