Think I'm ready for a band? I've been in one, but I was nowhere near as good then. The dude sang, and told me all the time, "I can't use my full potential, because I'll lose my voice". WELL THEN YOU CAN'T SING!!! lol. I just want something serious. [lmao, sounds like I'm on E-Harmony]. Anyways, if so, how did you guys start yer band?

Being in a band and playing gigs is one of the best ways to learn in my opinion, so I would highly recommend joining/forming one.

I've never really formed a band, people just came up to me and said they were looking for a guitarist. That band has been broken up for some time now, but I still jam with those guys when I come home.

I would just round up some friends who play bass/drums/guitar etc, and not really worry too much about the vocals. Just have a good time.

@ EMB - lol. Seriously? You just walked in to the High School and 3 bands asked you by the end of the day? I wish I could do that. My school's schedule is a giant cluster*** though haha.

@ Foogered - I guess I need to get my name out there then. I have no friends that play bass or drums at all. They're all older than me and are in bands already. There is this club that has live shows, and the place where I take lessons has an open mic night on Fridays. Idk. I just thought that making that Myspace page would do the trick. It didn't. I got asked by one person and it was some dude I barely knew and used to go to school with. lol. The rest just said it sounds good and all the complimentary stuff.

sure. it's a fun way to interact with friends, express your talent, and get better at your instrument.

I don't want to be the fun killer, but you might be better off improving your skills and knowledge of theory for a bit before joining/starting a band. You're 12 now, right? If you work on your technique etc for a couple of years then by the time you're 15ish, you'll be much better prepared, and there will be lots of people your age to form a band with. Just a thought.

I'm not sure how your school system works but here when you're 14/15 you can choose what subjects you want to do for what's called your GCSEs. Choose music, and then there will be loads of people to jam with. That's all our lessons were, just going off into practice rooms and jamming.

joining a band can help you improve better then by your self. it did for me anyways. but now i wanna quit my band and go solo cause the other guitarist is really bad and cant play for sheat. the way i got into my band was.... i was in grade 9 and i had guitar class at school. i met the guitarist and drummer there cause they took it to, they heard me shred it up and asked me to jam and i accepted

I'm not in a band. I write my own music and get people to play it for me.
