Positions

Ok i'm trying hard to learn all my scales. I use the page here and I see how the fingering is similar in each scale. But it's kinda weird. I heard an easy way to remember are Positions. Can someone explain these to me? Thanks so much!

You actually need to know only one sort of "grid" that you use all the time, By moving that grid up and down the neck (to the left or the right) you stay in the same mode but the root-note changes, or stay in the same position, but change the root-note, now the mode changes.
