I am sure what you asked. If you want to learn about modes, get a back issue of Guitar World, June 2005. It has a great article on modes and can probably explain it better than I ever could. |

Thx :) i mean..for example when you have a key of c and youre playing the C Lydian..it sounds different than the C Aeolian...so you can choose between them :)
and i wanted to know, when do i take the Lydian or the Aeolian? (:for example:) |

It depends on what feel you want for the solo, and the song. If you want a dark minor sound, go with Aeolian or maybe Dorian. Bands like Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd used both these, and soloists like Jimi Hendrix (“Ezy Rider”) and Santana (“Soul Sacrifice”). Now, if you want a happier sound go with the major modes: Ionian, Lydian, and Mixolydian. These can be found in the music of the Beatles, Guns N’ Roses, and Cream. I hope this info helps. |
