Does a yellow line mean hold down all the strings with one finger? I'm trying to learn G/B and don't see how I can hold down all the strings in the diagram with one hand. |

Hi goodps!
I don't now the diagram that you're talking about, but G/B just means to play a G chord with a B note in the bass ( or as the lowest note). It's commonly used in a chord progression to provide movement in the bass. For example: C - G/B - Am - G/B etc...
That's my 2 cents. Hope it helps...

Thanks, that helps. I'm still curious about a yellow line across all the strings. Does it mean hold down all the strings with one finger? |

I'm no talking about reading music. I'm referring to the chord diagrams on this site that have a yellow line across all six strings (for example the 1st variation on B Major). If you don't have a helpful comment, please refrain from replying. I'm sure you have better ways to spend your time. |

Hello again, goodps!
I saw the yellow line you referred to in your original post for a G/B chord in the 'guitar chords' calculator thingy. It does mean to hold down all the strings with one finger...but I really have to add that, even though the chord thingy is technically correct...that is one GOD AWFUL FINGERING for that particular chord! A simpler way to play it would be to put your 1st finger at the 2nd fret on the 5th string; put your 3rd finger at the 3rd fret on the 2nd string; put your pinky at the 3rd fret on the 1st string. Play the chord from the 5h string through the 1st. The 4th & 3rd strings are left open (don't play the 6th string at all!). Voila! Fairly EZ fingering for a G/B!
Good luck! |
