ok..I've been playing off and on for about 6 years now. I taught myself. I can play just about every chord easily and I can play lead if someone shows me how.. I am wanting to learn to play lead on my own but I don't have a clue about what scales are what and don't understand all the dots with letters you get on the fret board when you look at them. Can someone please give me some pointers ( it's really old playing nothing but rhythym)

Hi eng3ine!

I found that, for lead playing, the best (& easiest) scale to master first is the minor penatatonic ('dark sounding' - 5 tone) scale...

Good luck!

thanks gtrguru... but thats what i don't understand. Exactly what is the minor penatatonic? When you click on that scale in the scales section you get a ton of little dots with different notes, that I have no clue what they mean or what notes to play.
