Repeating C Dorian Lick

Just as the title says, this lick is based off the C Dorian scale. It is fairly simple, aside from some minor string skipping that is. It's broken into two parts:

Part I Part II
e:--------------------|-----------------------------|
B:-----3--4---6---3---|-----3---4---6---3-----------|
G:----------5---5-----|-----------5---5---5-3-------|
D:---5---5----------5~|---5---5---------------5-3---|
A:-3------------------|-3-------------------------5-|
E:--------------------|-----------------------------|

Enjoy!

Dude i like it. It is fairly simple but I used your idea and created my own pattern. Anything that gets the creativity flowing gets 5 stars

Well, its a cool lick. but its not Dorian. it doesn't contain a VI (major six). which is unique to Dorian mode. So its just minor. Though you could pull it out of minor or Dorian. But it just sounds straight up minor to me.

So if I play C Ionian without C. Does that mean it isn't C Ionian? Or if I play any mode in C major without playing C, does that mean I am no longer in C major? No it doesn't. The lick above is based off the Dorian mode, with or without notes unique to that mode.

"You could pull it out of minor or Dorian". True.

Glad you like the lick by the way.
