This riff is a great way of practicing hammer-ons and downstrokes.

The picking patterns you could practice is alternate picking, or downstrokes. Both can make this riff happen.

The patterns of picking you will be practicing are used in many different riffs in metal and even rock. The timing is the key. Especially at the end riff.
