Delta BluesHere's another bluesy lick that I recently stopped using. However, I think it's a good lick to practice if you're getting into the blues, and dig artists like Robert Johnson and the other Delta Blues guys.
INTRO
E|--x-3p0-x-3p0-x-3p0-x-2p0-x-0-0-0-0-3p0-x-3-0--|
b|--x-2p0-x-2p0-x-2p0-x-1p0-x-0-0-0-0-3p0-x-3-0--|
g|--x-2p0-x-2p0-x-2p0-x-1p0-x-0-0-1-1-----x------|
d|--x-2p0-x-2p0-x-2p0-x-1p0-x-0-0-0-0-----x------|
a|--------------------------------2-2------------|
e|--------------------------------0-0------------|
A PHRASE
E|--x-3-3-2-0-0-0-0-3p0-x-3-0--|
b|--x-2-2-1-0-0-0-0-3p0-x-3-0--|
g|--x-2-2-1-0-0-1-1-----x------|
d|--x-2-2-1-0-0-0-0-----x------|
a|--------------2-2------------|
e|--------------0-0------------|
B PHRASE
E|--x-3-3-2-0-0-0-0-3p0-x-3-0--|
b|--x-2-2-1-2-2-0-0-3p0-x-3-0--|
g|--x-2-2-1-0-0-1-1-----x------|
d|--x-2-2-1-2-2-0-0-----x------|
a|--------------2-2------------|
e|--------------0-0------------|
TURNAROUND
E|--x-3-3-2-/5-/7----5---5---5---4-7b----|
b|--x-2-2-1-/5-/7-/8---7---6---6-5----5--|
g|--x-2-2-1-/3-/7------------------------|
d|--x-2-2-1-/4-/6------------------------|
a|-------------/7------------------------|
e|---------------------------------------|
If you're pretty new to blues, the progression goes like so:
INTRO x 1
A PHRASE x 1
B PHRASE x 1
A PHRASE x 1
TURNAROUND x 1
Then every other time through will go like so:
A PHRASE x 2
B PHRASE x 1
A PHRASE x 1
TURNAROUND x 1
NOTE: The F#7(#9) and the E9 in the turn around are STRUMMED. I chose not to include the strumming pattern, because I feel like it wouldn't translate very well on tablature anyway. Just make something up that goes along with the rhythm. Trust me, you can do it!
Enjoy!
